5 Simple Ways To Boost Your Website Traffic Without Paying A Cent

If you’re frustrated with the lack of volume coming to your online store, it can be tempting to throw some of your hard-earned money at the problem by running some Paid Ads. But simply Boosting a Facebook Post, running an Instagram Ad, or starting a Google Ads Campaign, is not always an accessible solution. Especially when you’re trying to get more money in the door – you don’t want to send some out just to do it!

Ads can be costly, and most of all time-consuming. It’s (unfortunately!) not as simple as flicking the ‘on’ switch and watching floods of customers come to your site. Usually, you will have to spend weeks, if not months, refining and perfecting your ads to make sure it’s reaching the right audience and enticing them to come and purchase from you.

So – where does that leave you?

I’m giving you the secret to driving FREE traffic to your website, and if done right, the traffic will be filled with the right type of potential customer for your business. So here are 5 simple ways to get more website traffic, without having to spend a cent.

1. Content Marketing

There’s a reason you’ve probably heard the phrase – Content is King. Writing content for your website is one of the most powerful ways you can drive traffic to your website. Write about your products, what makes them unique, anything about the creative process – as well as any relevant content your customers might find entertaining or useful.

If you sell plant accessories, you can write about how to care for a plant, if you sell fashion items, you can write about current trends, The aim is to write about topics that are relevant to your brand, your customers, and ideally topics that they are searching for.

So do a little Keyword Research, and find phrases or questions that have high levels of search volume within your industry. Placing yourself as the ‘go-to’ in your industry, even to some, will bring in high volumes of traffic to your website, and ultimately, more sales.

2. Contribute to Facebook Groups

If you’re confident in your business idea, and know that there is an appetite for it, then I highly recommend doing some competitive research to make sure your prices are not out of scope, and the value you are offering is comparable (if not better!). You don’t have to be the cheapest – in fact I recommend you’re not – but that’s a chat for another day. The idea is to find out where you sit in the market, and to make sure your inclusions, quality, and most importantly value for money, is in the ballpark.

3.Branch Out on Social Media

Posting on Social Media consistently is part of any successful strategy – but perhaps you haven’t considered branching out beyond Facebook & Instagram.

Platforms like Pinterest and YouTube can bring extremely high volumes of traffic to your website, and you can deliver your brand in a more visual and creative way. Have fun with it! Experiment and dive deep into these new platforms, and you might be surprised to find where some new customers come from.

4. Email Marketing

Sometimes considered a little bit of a lost art, but I am an avid believer in Email Marketing. I’ve seen it work time and time again, and also experienced it myself as the customer. Regular emails from a brand I’ve engaged with builds trust and a relationship over time, and when the time is right or when there’s an offer that directly interests me, they will have my business (otherwise why would I subscribe?).

It’s a pool of potential (and loyal) customers that have actively said “yes!” to your brand, so treat them with a little TLC and they will remain loyal for life.

Send special discounts, prompt them with new offers, and promote new products. Even send out some of your new content! Any little reminder when you pop in their inbox that you are around is a positive step in your relationship, and almost always leads to an influx of traffic to your site every day those emails are sent.

5. Add a little SEO

Ok. Here it is. I couldn’t get through a list about traffic without mentioning SEO. And with good reason – SEO is the biggest opportunity you have to boost your website traffic, and with the right audience to boot. And whilst it might seem overwhelming (and yes it definitely can be) you can bite off just the right amount to chew, by focusing on coming up with some Core Keywords, and integrating them in the right places on your site.

Places such as:

  • Page Titles
  • URL’s
  • Alt+Text
  • Meta Descriptions
  • H1 Tags
  • Content

And a big thing to not forget – an optimised website that is fast, well-structured, and has a positive user experience will attract potential customers to your website like magnets.
